Tamaki College Reflections
On Tuesday the 27th of April 2015 the year eights of the Tamaki cluster went to Tamaki College to see what it feels like in college. These schools attended at Tamaki College
- Pt England
- Panmure Bridge
- Glenbrae School
- Tamaki Primary
- Glen Innes Primary
- St X Pius
- Ruapotaka
and some Year 9 and 13 students of Tamaki College. When we first arrived at Tamaki College my friends and I thought that there was nothing. A few minutes after everybody went in to the auditorium. There were not many students there when we went inside. Once all the schools were there we went up and looked for our name tag. After, Ms Moore told us about the three letters on our name tag. They were for each house
- Kowhai (Yellow)
- Puriri (Blue)
- Rata (Red)
- Totara (Green)
the letters were
- K mn
- K sh
- P em
- P ro
- T rd
and I can’t remember the rest. Next we split up into our groups, I was in K sh. In our group we had 4 leaders and their names were Francis, Wendy, Enosi and Tyler.
Our groups first class was Social Studies and our teacher was Ms Robertson. In social studies we had and Ice breaker and it was going around and asking people questions and putting their name in the questions. Next we went and did a quiz but our forty minutes were up so then we had to move to the next class.
Next we went to Mrs Tu'ipulotu class and her class is food tech. In food tech we had to partner up and my partner was Sela from Pt England. Sela and I were at the end of the class on table seven. Mrs Tu'ipulotu told us to wash our hands and grab an apron. After she told us her rules in her classroom. There were ingredients on the table and all we had to do was to mix it, then put flour on our hands, next we had to roll it up and then squash it and put in onto the dish. When we finished it we put it into the oven for 10 minutes. When 10 minutes was up we got it out and put it into paper bags. When Mrs Tu’ipulotu dismissed us we went straight to the auditorium for interval.
After interval we went straight to Mr Stevenson’s class and he teaches English. In Mr Stevenson class we learnt about R.I.S.E. R.I.S.E stands for
Respect
Integrity
Success
rEsponsibility. Next Mr Stevenson told us to pick one and write a quote about it. My quote said this “Success is important to me because I want to be successful in my education, sports and in any way I can.” Next we made a poster in google drawing and we had to put photos around it. the bell rang and we had to go to our next class room. Our next class room was Maths with Mr Lee
When we were inside Mr Lee’s class we sat down at watched a video about coordinates. Next Mr Lee gave us a sheet of coordinates and then we had to make an alien head by making coordinates. After he gaves us a site and it was a game and the game was called Billy bug. Billy bug is a coordinates game. After maths was finished we went back into the auditorium and had lunch.
After lunch we all went to our last class. Our last class was Science with Ms Smallwood. In science we made ice cream in a resealable bag. First we had to grab a big wet resealable bag and put some ice inside. Next we had to get a small resealable bag and put half a cup of milk. Then we put one quarter of a cup of salt. Then we put three quarters of vanila. Later when we finished we put the small bag into the big bag and shook it around for 5 minutes. When the 5 minutes was up we took the small bag out and the ice cream was frosty. We tried it out all all of ours tasted salty. When the bell rang we went back into the auditorium to get some prizes
In the auditorium there were prizes for each group. The prizes were a Wireless printer and a Bag.
It felt amazing doing somethings that college students do.
